Evacuation Plan
Fire and Emergency Evacuation Plan for events and productions at Marchington Village
Hall
Applicable to: Cast, Crew and Audience of Cinderella, MADS Production Autumn 2026
1.
• No matter how small the fire, call 999 and ask for fire assistance.
• The responsible person/s (Ian Morgan, Margaret Hatchard, Caroline Knapton)
must instruct everyone to leave the building using the nearest emergency exit
and muster at the assembly point (drive of St Peter’s School, opposite the main
entrance to the hall).
• Chaperones/Child Supervisors to ensure all children are escorted out of the
building using the nearest emergency exit and led safely to the assembly point.
• The responsible person (Ian Morgan) to take signing in/out sheets and Health
and Safety folder to the assembly point.
• A roll call should be taken by the responsible person (Ian Morgan).
• The responsible person/s (Ian Morgan, Margaret Hatchard, Caroline Knapton)
should ensure that once Marchington Village Hall has been evacuated, no one re-
enters the building under any circumstances
• On the arrival of the fire brigade, the responsible person (Ian Morgan) should
report to the Officer in Charge, confirm roll call has taken place and that all
persons are safe or should inform him/her of anyone who is missing.
• Only attempt to extinguish the outbreak of fire using fire extinguishers if it is safe
to do so. If in any doubt get out of the building.
• Report the incident to one of the Trustees (Andrew Mann 01283 820979).

• People will be warned of a fire via the electrical fire alarm system and told to
vacate the premises.

• Everyone to leave the premises via the nearest emergency exits and report to the
assembly point listed above.

• All areas have clear Fire Exit doors with emergency lighting, a layout of the
building is situated in main entrance.
i. The main hall has 3 exits during the performances, the main entrance, the
rear of the hall and through into the John Ellwood Lounge
ii. The John Ellwood Lounge has 3 exits – the exit door from the kitchen
area, the accessible entrance and the door leading into the main hall
iii. The conference room at the rear of the stage has exits at the front and
rear (through the small kitchen).
• Fire extinguishers are located in circulation areas and near fire exit doors
Control Measures
• All areas of the building are non-smoking.
• No fireworks, flammable substances, naked flames, or smoke machines are being
used.
• Fire extinguishers are situated in designated areas (see point 5).
• The hall is equipped with smoke and heat detectors and is inspected annually
with fire alarms tested regularly
• Additional technical equipment is safely and securely checked and tested prior to
each rehearsal and production by the Technical Director.
• Exits are to be kept clear of obstructions (props, bags, cables, equipment) at all
times
• All cast and crew required to sign in and out on entering and leaving the
premises.
